Antique Millefiori Glass Paperweight
Here is a fine and somewhat mysterious antique millefiori art glass paperweight. It consists of multiple concentric rows of complex millefiori, the majority of which are or contain stars and is a “classic period” creation from about 1850. The colors and star millefiori indicate that it is a French creation from the Paris area, such as St. Mande or a similar glass house. The flat bottom indicates that it is a Bohemian creation. There is excellent research on this type of millefiori in the last two Annual Bulletin of the Paperweight Collectors Association books so I believe that its origins and creator could be determined with a bit of research. In sum, I am not certain whether it is French or antique Bohemian. In either case, it is a fine and well made glass paperweight. Condition is excellent with only a few minor marks from historical use. It is about 2 1/4″ in diameter.
