Antique Embroidery – Crewel Work Embroidery – 19th Century – Collectible Textile – Home Decor – Interior Design
A wonderful 19th-century embroidery which is a copy of a 16th century crewelwork. The piece is scattered with wonderful motifs of naive and exotic birds, a camel, trees and floral motifs with scatterings of birds and flowers.
All hand embroidered in silks on a silk backing this piece has been worked by a skilled needlewoman.
Perhaps made to cover something, it could easily be reworked or popped into a frame to make a lovely embroidered picture.
12 x 11 inches (30 x 28 cm)
In fabulous condition for its age with no stains or tears it has a slight pattina of age.
