Today I have a beautiful pair of antique Victorian wedding shoes. Date to c1850. They have square toes and are known as “straights” as there is no distinction between a left and right foot. Made of cream silk/satin they are embellished with silk ribbon and lace bows in the front and silk ribbon ties at the back. Lined in polished cotton and linen. Have a stacked wooden heel and leather soles. Marked “3/7” on the inside which might indicate the size.
These shoes were part of a collection of an historical society in Ohio and de-accessioned and thus the numbers on the soles.
Measure about 8 3/4″ long; 2″ at the widest point; 1″ heel.
Issues: These shoes are in very good condition. There are only a couple of very tiny splits in the silk/satin. Age related marks and dirt marks. Light storage smell. Please see photos. In as found condition. I leave any cleaning or repair to the new owner.
